Young, talented and versatile, Tanni Choudhury has already made her presence felt in the cultural capital of India - Kolkata And Abroad Having had her training in Kathak under the eminent danseuse Amita Dutt, Tanni has given performances both as a solo dancer and in group compositions choreographed by her guru. She has also had the honour of participating it numerous workshops by the maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj. Presently she is under the guidance of Sri Asimbandhu Bhattacharya.

Among her solo performances may be named those at the Birla Academy in October-1994 and May-1995, at CLT in June-1995 and at the Foundation Day celebration of Women's Christian College in July-1996. She also presented a solo performance for Dipali Nag's wellknown organisation Saptasur in March 1997. Her solo performances have also been presented under the aegis of Rabindra Society, The Government Regional Tourist Office Calcutta, the Calcutta Doordarshan programme Herekarokamba, Haldia Music Circle, Guwahati ‘Rabindra Bhaban’ and 42nd Prayag Sangeet Samaraho at Allahabad (2002). 

A major event in Tanni’s life was her first official solo performance (winch may be compared to the Arangetram of South Indian dance) in October 11.1998 at Gyan Manch. Calcutta when her guru Amita Dutt presented her as a full-fledged proficient .
